| Meet Our TOB Institute Speakers |
We are halfway through 2009 and already we have received nearly 200 TOB speaker requests for 2010! What a blessing to be part of such a growing, dynamic ministry. As God's people cry out for the truth to be preached, Theology of the Body Institute stands ready to send its soldiers into the field. I am blessed to be flanked by two outstanding speakers who now travel the world sharing TOB. Their ministry to the Institute is now, more than ever, an important component to the Institute's success and mission.
Allow me to introduce you to our speakers, Bill and Damon:
Bill Donaghy, husband, father, and full time teacher shares his passion for TOB with teens, young adults, men and general audiences. Bill's enthusiastic love for Christ and His Church is a tremendous witness. He is a gentle man with firm conviction, conveying his convictions with compelling wisdom and compassion. Bill has a Masters in Systematic Theology and can be heard weekly on his radio show '"The Heart of Things". Click here for a video clip of Bill.
Sharing his own experiences as a husband and father of 5 girls, Damon Owens reveals the beauty of TOB and the most essential truths of our faith with style, wisdom and humor. Damon speaks to teens, young adults, priests and seminarians, as well as general audiences. His extensive work in NFP and Marriage Prep have made Damon an irreplaceable resource to the Institute. Meet Damon Owens
To date, only a very small percentage of the world's population even knows that the Theology of the Body exists. With this in mind, speakers of the Theology of the Body Institute travel across the country and around the world, delivering a variety of presentations customized to the needs of the sponsoring parish, diocese, or apostolate. These engagements give attendees a basic grounding in the beauty of the Theology of the Body, instilling in them a desire to learn more.
A speaker with the TOB Institute, Damon Owens, is the founder of Joy Filled Marriage NJ a non-profit organization providing training, resources, and support for engaged and married couples. In 2005, he introduced an exciting new marriage program in NJ, God's Plan for a Joy Filled Marriage (Ascension Press), developed by Christopher West and based on the Theology of the Body. Damon and his wife Melanie have been teaching and promoting Natural Family Planning (NFP) from Seton Hall University and throughout New Jersey since 1993. They serve as NFP Program Coordinators for the Archdiocese of Newark (N.J.), and are founders of the New Jersey Natural Family Planning Association. Damon keeps a full speaking schedule at national conferences, marriage seminars, high schools, seminaries, and youth groups on the good news of sexuality, chastity, Theology of the Body, Theology of the Family, and NFP. Damon has published numerous articles and appeared on EWTN Life on the Rock and March for Life 2006, ABC World News Tonight, CBS News 48 Hours, BET Evening News, and National Public Radio. He is also an accomplished gospel singer with such honors as a solo during the 1995 NJ Papal Mass at Giants Stadium and the funeral mass for Bishop Joseph Francis at the Sacred Heart Basilica in Newark.
Meet Bill Donaghy
 Bill Donaghy began working in the fields of mission and evangelization in the Philadelphia region in 1999. Through his previous work with the Pontifical Mission Societies, he has given hundreds of talks on the spirituality of mission to young people, sharing his experiences of missionary work in Haiti, El Salvador, and the Dominican Republic, as well as parish and young adult ministry in the United States. In October of 2000, Bill was chosen to represent his country in a special tribute for the Jubilee of Missionaries in Rome. He was given a simple cross by Pope John Paul II and called by the Holy Father to "bring Jesus back to your country." It was this incredible experience that led Bill to begin the Mission Moment; a teaching ministry dedicated to the New Evangelization. Through talks, retreats, and missions, Bill points to the very core of what we believe as Catholics; to the depths of the encounter, communion, and mission that God is calling each of us to in building "a culture of life" and a "civilization of love," in the words of Pope John Paul II. Through a collaboration with the Theology of the Body Institute, and trained by Christopher West, Bill also speaks widely on Pope John Paul II's groundbreaking teaching on human sexuality.
